A few things you might want to know first.
Book one, Reliquary. Last updated 14 September 2026.
Reliquary is a fantasy novel written for adults. Its main character is fifteen years old and still looks nine, and some hard things happen to him and to the people around him. This page lists the ones a reader might like to know about ahead of time. It is short, and it gives nothing away.
What's in it
- Parents die. It happens on the page, by violence, and to more than one character.
- A kid who has been through something. Rain carries what happened to him, and it shows in how he reacts to things all the way through the book.
- Some body horror, mild to moderate. Creatures that were grown rather than born, with parts that don't match and don't hold still, and a machine that was built to hold a person.
- A child is drugged and taken. It isn't graphic, but it is a stressful stretch of the book.
- The villains call people things. It, vessel, item. They mean it, and the book does not agree with them.
- The main character is fifteen and looks nine. That is the premise, and the book never forgets it. There is nothing sexual about it. Some readers find the mismatch uncomfortable, and that discomfort is part of what the book is about.
- Religion, taken seriously. Doubt and practice sit side by side in the book, and it doesn't settle the matter for anyone.
- Swearing, but only the kind this world invented. There is no real-world profanity on the page.
Book two
Book two, Disclosure, is a darker book than this one. Its notes will go up here when the book is out. If you've read Reliquary and would like to know what's coming before then, write to us and we'll tell you.
